Become a Nutcracker Benefactor

Ballet Theatre of Scranton and Marywood University invite you to be a part of their holiday community gift by joining the ranks of its Nutcracker Benefactors.  Any financial contribution would be most welcome and appreciated.  All donations of $100.00 or more will receive reserved seating at one of the six performances, as noted in the details below.  These reserved seats are limited at each performance to allow most patrons to attend at no charge.

Dear Patron,

The Nutcracker’, the traditional holiday gift to the community presented annually by Ballet Theatre of Scranton and Marywood University, celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2015 and has been cited by the national publication, Dance Magazine, as the only Nutcracker Ballet given as a community gift in the United States.

Among its many awards and recognitions, we are proud to be the recipient of the 2007 Greater Scranton Chamber of commerce “Hometown Star Award” for the Nutcracker’s cultural and economic impact on our community. Growing from the first performance, with a budget of a few hundred dollars, “The Nutcracker” has grown to an impressive production featuring over 100 dancers, professional sets, costumes and mesmerizing special effects. To date, we have entertained over 350,000 people and have come to be revered by the Northeastern Pennsylvania Community and beyond. For many, it is their first introduction to this beautiful art form and for others, it is the only opportunity to bring their families to witness such an extravagant theatrical production. Each year, the audiences keep attending and fill every seat for every performance!

In 2008, we established The Nutcracker Annual Fund. The purpose of this drive was to raise funds to preserve “The Nutcracker” and continue to present it in the spirit in which it was intended — as a gift. Your financial contribution will enable us to continue this gift to the community.

As thanks for your donation, we will reserve seats in your name at any performance of “The Nutcracker” and you will be acknowledged in our program if received by the printing deadline. The number of complimentary seats available for your donation is listed on the attached form. Please complete the attached Benefactor Ticket Request Form and send it in with your donation.

Checks can be made payable to: Ballet Theatre of Scranton. Only seats requested on the benefactor form will be honored. We will not have extra tickets available the day of the performance. Your requested tickets will be waiting at the door for you.

The deadline to reserve tickets is December 8th, with your name listed in The Nutcracker program, as noted in the form below and returned to us by US Mail postmarked on or before December 8, 2018, or in the Ballet Theatre of Scranton PayPal account (see link to click on to do so below)  by mid-night, December 8, 2018. Benefactor contributions and related requests to receive reserved tickets will be accepted until Dec 21st but names will not be listed in the Nutcracker program. All names are listed in the spring program booklet. No benefactors will be accepted after Dec 21st. (must be received by Ballet Theatre by US Mail postmarked on or before December 21, 2018, or in the Ballet Theatre of Scranton PayPal account (see link to click on to do so below) by mid-night, December 21, 2018.). As a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation, your donation would be most appreciated, and may be tax deductible, as provided by law. Please consult your tax advisor.

Thank you for your generosity and support of this gift to the community!
