Become a Nutcracker Benefactor

Ballet Theatre of Scranton and Marywood University invite you to be a part of their holiday community gift by joining the ranks of its Nutcracker Benefactors.  Any financial contribution would be most welcome and appreciated.  All donations of $100.00 or more will receive reserved seating at one of the six performances, as noted in the details below.  These reserved seats are limited at each performance to allow most patrons to attend at no charge.

October 2019 –

Dear Ballet Theatre of Scranton Supporter,

The Nutcracker is a beloved holiday gift presented to the community annually by Ballet Theatre of Scranton since 1976. Among the many awards and recognitions we have received over the past 44 years of The Nutcracker, we are proud to have been cited by the national publication, Dance Magazine, as the only Nutcracker Ballet given as a community gift in the United States. We are also proud to be the recipient of the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce “Hometown Star Award” for The Nutcracker’s cultural and economic impact on our community. Growing from the first performance with a budget of a few hundred dollars, The Nutcracker has grown to an impressive production featuring over 100 dancers, professional sets, costumes and mesmerizing special effects. To date, we have entertained over 350,000 people and have come to be revered by the Northeastern Pennsylvania community and beyond. For many, it is their first introduction to this beautiful art form and for others, it is the only opportunity to bring their families to witness such an extravagant theatrical production. Each year, the audiences keep attending and fill every seat for every performance!

This year we are delighted to move the production of The Nutcracker to our beautifully renovated new home, The Theater; at North, in partnership with Goodwill Industries of NEPA. We know you will be as pleased as we are with the stunning new venue!

Although we do not charge the public for tickets to The Nutcracker, the production is certainly not free to present. Over the years, we have experienced difficulty raising the necessary funds to continue our mission. As a result, we established The Nutcracker Annual Benefactor Fund in 2008. The purpose of this drive was to raise funds to preserve The Nutcracker and continue to present it in the spirit in which it was intended – as a gift. Your financial contribution of $100 will enable us to continue to give this gift to the community.

To thank you for your $100 donation, we will reserve up to 4 seats in your name at any performance of The Nutcracker. You will be acknowledged in the Nutcracker Program Book if your donation is received by the printing deadline of December 1st. Please complete the attached Benefactor Ticket Request Form and send it in with your donation before December 1st. We are unable to honor any requests and/or payments made after this date for advanced reserve seats, due to the great demand for these limited tickets.  We will still gratefully accept any donations for our annual free performances of The Nutcracker.

Checks can be made payable to: Ballet Theatre of Scranton. Only seats requested on the Benefactor Form will be honored. We will not have extra tickets available the day of the performance. Your requested tickets will be waiting at ”Will Call” at the Theater at North Box Office.

Your donation would be most appreciated. As a non-profit 501(c)(3) tax exempt corporation, your donation may be tax deductible, as provided by law. Please consult your tax advisor.

Thank you for your generosity and support of this treasured holiday gift!

Most Sincerely,

Ballet Theatre of Scranton Executive Council
